Dear St Liborius School Community,

What a terrific week we had last week at St Liborius! Our Founders Day and Colour Run was on Friday. The excitement of students during our Founders Day celebrations and Colour Run was contagious, as our school transformed from a sea of white to a vibrant spectrum of colours, almost as dazzling as Joseph's Technicolour Dreamcoat! It was a day filled with laughter, energy, and a deep sense of community. Thank you to everyone who supported and participated in these events, making them such a success.

While we celebrate these wonderful moments, we also have some bittersweet news to share. Kyle Franzini, who has been with us for the past two years within the 3 / 4 unit will be leaving at the end of the year to take up a new role at St Therese’s Primary School, within the Year 1 unit. Kyle has been a valued member of our team, and we wish him all the best in his new position. We are grateful for the care and dedication he has shown to our students during his time here.

Looking ahead, it’s shaping up to be another busy week of learning for our staff. This week marks the final phase of our InitiaLit (F-2 Literacy) training, ensuring our educators are equipped with the best strategies to support your child’s literacy development. Additionally, members of our leadership team will be out on Thursday and Friday to participate in professional development focused on the Knowledge Society Behaviour Curriculum and the OCHRE Platform. These are exciting initiatives that will support our students' growth as learners and help us to continue providing a nurturing and dynamic learning environment.

On Friday evening, I was privileged to attend the MacKillop Art Exhibition, where the best and brightest artists from Catholic Education Sandhurst schools were celebrated. It was inspiring to see so many talented students and teachers coming together to showcase their creativity. A special congratulations goes to Curtis Cluff, whose artwork "Preying Mantis" received a Highly Commended award. Well done, Curtis! We’d also like to extend our thanks to Steph Sefton and Claire Sexton for their hard work in supporting our students' artistic development.

Our Arts Team have been working full steam ahead, especially with production auditions underway. The decision-making process for casting has been incredibly difficult due to the talent on display, so the team enlisted external experts from Props Theatre and BTC to assist in finalising the cast. Our students are thrilled about the production, and we know the rehearsal and performance process will be a fantastic learning experience for all involved. We also have a large number of students busily rehearsing for their performance in Canterbury Carols, which is taking place on Sunday Dec 8.

As always, we want to express our sincere appreciation to all our families and community members for their continued support. We are so grateful for the positive partnership we share as we work together to help our students reach their full potential.

With many blessings,

Alannah Darmody
