Year Four - Spotlight on Learning

Jericho Community

Dear Families,

After a hectic two weeks, swimming has come to a close with some very exhausted but much better trained swimmers. Just to top off for our super athletes, we finished the week with the Cross Country trials, so hopefully they will all sleep well for you over this weekend!

Next week the Year 4's will have quite a few post-assessments to complete and I'm sure we'll be celebrating growth over this term in many areas. We will also be preparing for next term, with pre-assessments becoming a necessary part of the week.

The Year 4 staff will use this information to prepare work over the upcoming holidays so we can 'hit the ground running' with our learning on Day 1 of Term 2.

Next week we are learning about...

Religious Education Focus

Next week we will be completing a pre-assessment for next term's topic: "Called to Serve - Great Heroes are Worth Following." We will be looking at Holy Week as we continue to explore Jesus' journey towards the cross. This will be followed by a post-assessment.

English Focus

We will continue to read 'Leo and Ralph' which the children are enjoying. We will continue to develop our Narrative writing skills which we will also continue in Term Two.

Mathematics Focus

Students will be completing some pre-assessments and revising some key knowledge from this term. We will continue to focus on building our Number Fluency.

Integrated Studies

Next week we will be doing a post-assessment where the students will have the opportunity to show their learning of how Indigenous peoples cared for the land, their connection to ‘Country,’ language changes over time, the purpose of Dreaming stories, use of tools and their knowledge of seasons.

Social/ Emotional Learning & RRRR

Students will be completing the 'Acknowledgement of Country' that they began last week.

Auslan Focus

Next week students will be completing the post-assessments for Units 1 and 2 which incorporates how hands, movements and directions can change the meanings of words.
