Reading
We have continued on our journey of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! Roald Dahl invites readers into a world of wonder and mystery with the eccentric Willy Wonka and his magical chocolate factory. As Charlie Bucket, a poor but kind-hearted boy, wins a golden ticket, he embarks on an adventure alongside four other lucky children. The factory is filled with fantastic inventions, strange creatures, and surprises at every turn. Dahl's playful language and sharp wit bring the story to life, while each child’s behavior reveals valuable lessons about greed, gluttony, and humility. It’s a delightful mix of excitement and moral lessons, setting the stage for the grand adventures that lie ahead! We will continue reading this exciting novel next term.
Students also celebrated their last library session of the term by silently reading.
Writing
Our young writers have been working hard to develop their narrative writing skills! We are continuing to write and publish stories using the writing process. Students are learning to brainstorm, draft, revise, edit, and publish their work, just like real authors. As they progress, they are also focusing on adding rich details to bring their stories to life. Encouraging them to describe characters, settings, and events with vivid words helps make their writing more engaging and immersive.

Maths
Our students are mastering the art of telling time in this exciting new unit! They’ve been practicing reading both analog and digital clocks, learning to identify hours, minutes, and seconds with confidence. Alongside this, they’re solving time-related problems, such as calculating elapsed time and figuring out durations between events. It's been wonderful to see the kids engage with real-world applications of time, developing their problem-solving skills in fun and meaningful ways.

Inquiry
Students are getting creative by designing their very own utopia maps! In this exciting project, they’re imagining the ideal society complete with its own government, currency, celebrations, and flag. Through this hands-on activity, they’re exploring concepts of community, governance, and cultural identity while applying their knowledge of social studies. It’s an engaging way for students to think critically about what makes a society thrive, all while exercising their artistic and design skills. We can’t wait to see the unique utopias they create!

Social and Emotional Learning
Students are focusing on identifying key factors that influence emotions and recognizing ways to uplift others. Through discussions and activities, they are learning how their words and actions can have a positive impact on those around them. By developing empathy and understanding, students build stronger relationships and create a more supportive classroom environment.
In addition to recognizing emotions, we are also practicing relaxation techniques to help manage stress and emotions in a healthy way. Students are learning strategies like deep breathing, mindfulness, stretching, and simple yoga exercises to help them stay calm and focused throughout the day. These techniques provide valuable tools they can use anytime they need to relax or reset.

Special Event
Cross Country
Our primary school students have been making strides in this year’s cross-country race! From enthusiastic beginners to seasoned runners, students of all abilities have been participating in our whole school event. Cross-country is not just about racing—it’s about teamwork, perseverance, and pushing oneself to reach personal goals. It was an exciting adventure, and we’re so proud of all our young athletes for their hard work and determination! Thank you to all the cone collectors for going out of your way to help us clean up.
