Principal's Report

Dear CPS Community,
Some of the many events and highlights that occurred across the Term 1 have been Year 5 & 6 Swimming, 3 – 6 Athletics Day at Meadow Glen Athletics Track, Whole School Cross Country Day, Interschool Sports, Summer Sports Gala Day, Open Classrooms, Student Led Conferences, NAPLAN, Ride2School Day, Dream and Lead Conference, Harmony Day and I’m sure there are a few other things that I have missed.
Improving student engagement in learning has been one of our goals, with a Key Improvement Strategy focusing on Positive climate for learning through developing and embedding a whole school approach to activating student voice and agency in learning. This is reflected through establishing and prioritising student voice and agency through our Junior School Council members. Today our JSC were presented with their badges at assembly. We look forward to working with our JSC this year. Congratulations to our 2025 appointed Junior School Council members.
This week our Community Events and Fundraising Committee established by School Council members Allison Sheridan, Raj Mann and myself, held a meeting to discuss 2025 events.
We are excited for our Grades F – 6 to be commencing Auslan classes in Term 2. Students will engage in 30-minute lessons each week with their classroom teacher and virtual instructor, learning how to sign together. We look forward to sharing the learning through our school Newsletter and at weekly assemblies.
We are calling for volunteers to join our Community Events and Fundraising Committee. All volunteers at Craigieburn Primary School are required to hold a current Working with Children Check Clearance and have attended a volunteer induction session. Please email the school office if you would like to become a volunteer of our Community Events and Fundraising Committee. A HUGE thankyou to all our current volunteers. We really appreciate your support. We will post information about events via Compass and in our School Newsletter including how and when volunteers can support in upcoming events.
We are hosting our Annual Easter Bonnet Parade on Wednesday the 23rd of April at 9:15am in the school gym.
We encourage our students to engage in a fantastic holiday project and to begin creating their own bonnets. We encourage reusing materials that you might find around the house! No need to go and buy anything, we love creativity! Please read on in this newsletter to get some inspiration and ideas. Easter Prizes will be given away – one per grade!
As the term draws to an end, we have a large pile of lost property including jumpers, hats, drink bottles and other items. If your child is missing anything, please take the time to view our lost property table in the foyer. Any named items will be returned to the classroom, unnamed items are available for collection, unclaimed items will be donated.
We say goodbye to Tori Turner who is moving on from CPS. We thank Tori for joining the CPS Admin team and wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
Term 2 commences for students on Tuesday 22nd April. We will have our Easter Bonnet Parade on Wednesday 23rd and special assembly for ANZAC day on Thursday 24th April. We look forward to seeing all students back at school for another term of great learning!
I wish everyone a safe, relaxing and enjoyable break!
