On 12th March, the Mazenod Old Collegians Football Club and the Mazenod Panthers All Abilities Football Club came together for an inspiring "Whole of Club" training session. This special evening saw the senior men's and women's cohorts train alongside our Panthers players, showcasing the unity, inclusion, and integration that define our club culture.
The energy on the field was electric as players from all teams worked together, learning from one another and celebrating the diverse talent within our club. It was a fantastic demonstration of how sport can bring people together, fostering an environment of respect, camaraderie, and shared purpose.
Adding to the occasion, we were delighted to welcome several special guests who joined us on the field. John Mullahy MP took up our invitation to train with the Panthers, experiencing firsthand the passion and determination of our all abilities athletes. We also welcomed Paul Proctor (Class of '88), President of the Ferntree Gully Tennis Club, who runs an award-winning all abilities program at his club. Their participation underscored the importance of community support and advocacy for inclusive sporting opportunities.
Craig Todd (Class of 81), President of the Mazenod Old Collegians Football Club, reflected on the significance of the event: "This was a fantastic night that showcased the strength of our club and the power of inclusion. Seeing all our teams train together reinforces that we are one club, united by a love of footy."
Phil Ryan (Class of 88), President of the Mazenod Panthers, shared his thoughts:
"The Whole of Club training session is one of the highlights of our season. It’s incredible to see our players supported by the broader Mazenod Old Collegians Football Club community. The connections made on nights like this extend beyond football and make a real difference in our players' lives."
Events like these highlight what makes Mazenod Old Collegians Football Club and Panthers such a special place—our unwavering commitment to ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to be part of a strong and united sporting community. The bonds formed through initiatives like the Whole of Club training session extend far beyond the football field, reinforcing the values of teamwork, leadership, and belonging.
A huge thank you to all players, coaches, and supporters who made the night a success. Your enthusiasm and dedication continue to make our club a shining example of inclusion in sport.

All of you will remember your experiences of fundraising for the Oblate Missions whilst you were students at our College. We all remember our original “Jog for Java” mornings, where we ran around the streets of Mulgrave, in our quest to raise funds for the Oblate Missions. This then became our transformed carnivalesque, “Mission Action Day”. On this day always begins with a Liturgy recalling Holy Week, Easter, and our need to support the Oblate Missions.
This year, our fundraising for the Oblate Missions has gone online. We would really appreciate it if any of our Old Collegians were able to make either a monetary donation to our fundraising or even provide us with a voucher or gift that we might use as prizes for our raffles. No amount of money is too small, and no gift/prize is insignificant. All monetary donations are tax deductible.
If you would like to assist us in supporting our work with the Oblate Missions, both in Australia, and throughout the Developing World, please click on the link below. Further information about this extremely worthy fundraising will be found on this link. Let us support our Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate and their wonderful and generous sacrifices and work in the Oblate Missions! We thank you very much for your kind consideration of this request.
