House Sport
It has been a busy start to the year in terms of House Sport, with students participating in weekly sport activities as well as competing in a several House Sport carnivals. At Mazenod, sport is designed to be inclusive and cater for a range of the student's interests to assist them to develop their sense of physical wellbeing. Students are encouraged to create healthy habits that involve engaging in regular physical activity. Weekly sport activities students can participate in include badminton, basketball, golf, table tennis, tennis, boxing and indoor soccer.
The House Sport Carnival series involves several championship events during the year in which the students represent their house and compete for points. The points are totalled, and a winning house is crowned for that event. After the completion of the series points are calculated from all the events and the winning house is awarded the Father Sherman Champion House trophy at the final college assembly.

The day was filled with plenty of colour, house spirit and enthusiasm amongst the participants.
There were many outstanding performances of the day, and all students should be congratulated on their attitude and participation on the day.

The seventh instalment of the Mazenod Gift, which included each of the year level winners of the 100m event, was a close affair with Year 10 student Gavin Rajahmoney taking home the honours.
Competition was fierce and it was tight between all the Houses for most of the day. In the end it was close, Chisholm were able to defend their title and go back-to-back.

An addition to the House Sport carnival series was the inaugural Senior House Volleyball Championship. The event coincided with Open Day, giving potential families an insight into the talents of the Mazenod Volleyball program. Competition was tough, with all players displaying tremendous house spirit, with some exciting volleyball being played. In the end, to Chisholm who defeated MacKillop in the Grand Final to take out the trophy, with Edison Le – Year 11 – be awarded the Grand Final MVP. The Chisholm team members were:

The weather was perfect, the competition was fierce and there was plenty of colour on display as the Year 7 and 8 students competed in the House Swimming carnival. The day is a great chance for potential ACC swim team members to show their wears in front of Mr Montoya and Mr Berry. In the end it was a convincing win to Charlebois, well clear of second placed Anthony.
