Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Students and Staff,
As we come to the end of another busy, positive, and productive term, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the many highlights and achievements of the past weeks.
Last Friday, we were privileged to welcome former Wallaby players to our school. Our students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to train with these elite athletes, and it was an inspiring experience for all involved. Through talent identification, three of our students have been invited to participate in the state trials—a fantastic achievement, and we wish them all the best in the next stage of their journey.
Recently, students from our college participated in an inspiring day at Bunjil Place. Close the Gap is about addressing the inequalities faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly in health, education, and life expectancy. It’s a call to action for equity, respect, and real change. The event was hosted by the City of Casey together with the Richmond Football Club. Students immersed themselves in culture, engaged in meaningful activities, and connected with peers from neighbouring schools. A highlight of the day was the creation of a collaborative artwork, which each school will receive, to proudly display as a symbol of unity and shared commitment to Closing the Gap.
Recently, our Year 7 and Year 9 students demonstrated great focus and determination as they completed this year’s NAPLAN assessments. We are proud of their efforts and resilience throughout the process. Additionally, our Year 11 students sat a practice GAT, and the senior school team, along with the GAT supervisors, were very impressed by the way students engaged with the process. These experiences are invaluable in preparing our students for their future academic pathways.
Another major success this term was our Student-Led Conferences. This year, we trialed a new format over two days, and we are thrilled that attendance more than doubled compared to previous years. Thank you to all families for supporting these important conversations about student learning and progress.
Looking ahead, I would like to inform you that I will be on leave for a few days during the first week of Term 2. In my absence, Mr. Max Eldridge will be Acting Principal. Term 2 will commence on Tuesday, 22nd April, following the Easter Monday holiday. We will begin the term with our special annual student-led ANZAC Day Commemoration, a significant event in our school calendar that provides an opportunity for reflection and respect.
Finally, I would like to extend my gratitude to our dedicated staff for their tireless efforts in supporting student learning and wellbeing throughout the term. Your commitment makes a difference every day.
Wishing all students, staff, and families a safe, restful, and enjoyable holiday break. I look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for another great term ahead.
Regards
Wayne Haworth
