Spotlight on Learning Room 6

This week, our class had a fantastic time creating some eye-catching Easter artwork using a technique called zentangling. We began by watching a few short videos that explained what zentangling is: a fun and relaxing art form where different patterns are combined to fill a space. Students were amazed at how simple lines, dots, and shapes could come together to make such detailed and creative designs!
Each student was given an outline of a rabbit to work with. Their challenge was to draw as many different zentangle patterns as they could inside the rabbit, putting in their best effort to be creative and careful. Some chose swirls, others tried zig-zags, checkerboards, waves, flowers, and more. Once the rabbits were filled with wonderful patterns, the students coloured them using either pencil or texter, making sure to stay neat and take pride in their work.
To add a fun twist, students also cut out and decorated a pair of cool glasses for their rabbits to wear! These finishing touches gave the animals loads of personality. Finally, each rabbit was glued onto a coloured background to really make the artwork pop and stand out.
The finished pieces look incredible and showcase the students’ creativity, focus, and effort. They are all on display in the front office. It was a fun way to explore patterning, mindfulness, and artistic expression, with a touch of Easter fun! Have a Hoppy Holidays!
