This week, 2E participated in the Glen Waverley Swimming Program, which included two key components: a water safety program and swimming lessons!
Learners who stayed on-site explored a variety of aquatic environments, including homes, inland waterways, aquatic facilities, beaches, oceans, and farms. They examined potential dangers in these areas, investigated the meaning of ‘safety’ and ‘danger,’ and discussed ways to minimize risks. They also identified people who help keep us safe around bodies of water. To put their learning into action, they creatively analysed pictures to determine whether situations were safe or unsafe.
Meanwhile, our swimmers eagerly boarded a bus to SwimWorld, where they met their new swimming instructors. They enthusiastically jumped in, demonstrating their skills and tackling challenges with a growth mindset. Learners repeatedly practiced tricky movements and cheered on each other’s successes, fostering a supportive learning environment.
We are excited for our second week of swimming and look forward to reflecting on our growth and achievements during the program!
