Grade 3s Inspire Little Designers at Poet’s Grove

To kick off Term 2, our Grade 3 students had the wonderful opportunity to visit Poet’s Grove Family and Children’s Centre, where they took on the role of mentors to the Kindergarten students. Together, they imagined and created fantastical cardboard constructions—including castles, dragons, and aeroplanes—using the innovative Makedo tools.

It was a joy to watch our students confidently share their knowledge of the safe cardboard cutting tools, guide the younger children through each design step, and model how to problem-solve when things didn’t go quite to plan. This hands-on experience was a fantastic way for our Grade 3s to strengthen their communication and leadership skills, all while sparking creativity and joy in their younger buddies.

We’re so proud of the way they represented our school with kindness, patience, and imagination.

After School Robotics Club

Our new Robotics Club launched this term with fantastic enthusiasm. The first session was a hit, with students eagerly building their own robot models using LEGO WeDo and SPIKE kits. They began making their models move and will continue to develop their understanding of how things work and interact in the coming weeks through hands-on activities and guided discovery.

With the club running at full capacity, and a growing waiting list, it’s clear there’s strong interest in after-school STEAM opportunities. We’re hoping to offer another club in Term 3, which will explore a different area of STEAM to keep things fresh and engaging. To give more students the chance to participate, we’ll also look at varying the days these clubs run throughout the year.
