Literacy

In Literacy this month, we've been reviewing our comprehension skills through engaging short texts, where we have been challenged with both literal and inferential questions, deepening our understanding and critical thinking abilities. In our writing sessions, we've delved into the intricacies of explanation texts. We have been exploring the structure and features in these informative pieces, understanding how to effectively communicate complex ideas. With a focus on crafting compelling introductions for explanation texts, we are not only mastering the art of writing but also cultivating our ability to hook in audiences right from the start.

Knowledge - Natural Disaters

In our our knowledge sessions, we have been delving into the fascinating yet critical topic of natural disasters. From bushfires to earthquakes and tsunamis, we've explored the profound impact these events can have on both our environment and human communities. Through engaging discussions and interactive activities, we have gained insight into the ways in which these disasters can reshape landscapes and affect our lives. Equally important, we've focused on preparedness and response strategies, arming us with the knowledge of how to effectively prepare for such events and how to navigate through them once they've passed. It's been an eye-opening journey, empowering us with the tools and understanding needed to navigate the unpredictability of our natural world.

Numeracy

In Numeracy we have been diving into the depths of mathematical problem-solving with a focus on mastering equations with multiple operations using BODMAS (Brackets, Orders, Division and Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction). Through engaging exercises and real-world examples, we have sharpened our computational skills while understanding the importance of following mathematical rules for accurate results. Additionally, we've introduced the power of algebraic expressions as a tool for problem-solving, helping us to tackle complex scenarios with confidence and precision. Furthermore, our exploration has extended to geometry, where we have delved into the principles of triangles, learning techniques to calculate unknown angles, fostering a deeper understanding of spatial relationships and geometric properties.

Social and Emotional Learning

In our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) sessions, we have been reviewing the concept of gratitude and its significance in fostering positive relationships and well-being. Through reflective exercises and discussions, we have explored the importance of expressing thanks to those around us for their contributions and support. Additionally, we've embarked on a journey of self-discovery, identifying and celebrating our personal strengths. From resilience to creativity, we have recognised the unique attributes that make us shine. Moreover, we've had the opportunity to honour individuals who inspire us, dissecting their strengths and understanding why they resonate with us.
