Foundation

In Foundation, our students are learning how fruits and vegetables play a vital role in our diet, providing essential vitamins and minerals for good health. They are also learning that when it comes to farming, fruits and vegetables are grown either above the ground or below the ground. As part of their learning, they will make healthy choices when packing their lunches and ensure that they consume a rainbow of fruits and vegetables throughout the day.

Year 1

Year 1 students are using the design cycle to construct their own paper cup towers. The students have explored the properties and characteristics of various materials. After designing their towers, they constructed towers that are stable and balance well using 10-15 paper cups. In various experiments, our builders will rate their towers based on how tall and strong they are, and share their thinking process while reflecting on their works.

Year 2

Year 2 students are learning about simple machines and their properties. During their exploration, they have discovered how simple machines simplify their lives and make their tasks easier and more enjoyable. The students have learnt to make springs from paper and are making a simple machine out of a spring to make their own unique toy. The final Pop up toys will be shared on Seesaw soon

Year 3

Students in Year 3 have researched and studied the different shapes and materials used in the towers. The students also learned about the properties and qualities of different materials that make them suitable for various uses. They incorporated  some of their ideas into the design. Working together, they learned how to measure and test a tower.

Year 4

The Year 4 students completed their ball drop challenges and produced some amazing models. At the moment students are learning to use Scratch to encourage creative thinking, allowing them to work on projects that are both visually appealing and functional.  Scratch provides an introduction to coding and computer science fundamentals, and also helps build logic and problem-solving abilities.

Year 5

We are really proud of the creativity and unique innovations of the roof designs our Year 5’s have created in our Origami STEM challenge. They have used different techniques to show a retractable roof using Origami folds. Currently, our Year 5 students are learning about the different types of bridges around the world, which can inspire them to design and complete the Bridge STEM challenge.

Year 6

In our recent Innovation and Design sessions, we’ve been having a fantastic time in the kitchen! The students created a delicious Crunchy Noodle Salad, packed with colourful veggies and crispy noodles, topped with a tangy dressing. Next, we baked irresistible Vegan Brownies. These chocolaty treats surprised everyone with their rich flavour and were a huge hit! It’s been fantastic to see the students excited about cooking and working together. We can’t wait for more delicious adventures in the kitchen!
