It's been a long term, but we can see the finish line ahead. The Farm has been busy as usual, and a little bit hectic due to staffing issues. We would like to thank all the students for adapting to the roster changes at the last minute, and fitting into groups that they aren't usually a part of. It's always good to work with someone different though!
Just a reminder to the majority of the Year 12s, that next term is likely to be your last here at the College. Please ensure you are doing all you can to get your Certificate II in Agriculture completed. Remember that now is not the time to start 'checking out'. You still need to continue the everyday tasks assigned to you, completing all the paperwork that you need to do, and complying with all the College and Student Guidelines.
We would like to say a big thank you to Mr Jones who will be retiring this week after 25 years on the Farm at the College. There have been hundreds of students over the years who have learnt a lot from Mr Jones. He's been in a few roles over his time here - Butcher, Cattle Technical Officer and most recently General Farm. We will miss him as a colleague, and I'm sure the students will miss his gruff exterior and humour as a Technical Officer.
Can all year 12s who received an expression of interest letter for the skid steer/loader course and the stockmanship course, please have them back by 28 June 2024. Late submissions may not be accepted. I need to start organising dates for these courses as soon as possible. Thanks - Mrs Iles.
Phones are NOT allowed to be with you when you are on Farm. You do not need your phone for anything during your learning hours in this area. Technical Officers do not ask you to have your phone for music, photos or for any other reason. Remember that if your phone is confiscated, it will be kept at the main office for 5 days.
Please take note of the following students rostered to Weekend Duty in the first few weeks of Term 3 -
July 20 and 21 - Harry Compton, Brianna Barnes, Taya Winsor and Luke Jefferys
July 27 and 28 - Tyson Bell, Leith Duncan, Zekiah Martin
August 3 and 4 - Lincoln Cannon, Kayah Bishop, Matilda Saunders, Michael Woodford, Cody Bragge
The Royal Agricultural Society of WA are offering a two-day expo for young people interested in learning about sheep handling, husbandry and showing, during the July school holidays. All meals are included plus, you could win amazing prizes.
