From the Year 5/6s
Welcome to another exciting edition of our Year 5/6 newsletter! It’s been a busy term so far, and we can’t wait to share all the cool things we’ve been up to!
This term, our Maths lessons were anything but boring. We dived into the world of Cartesian planes and grid mapping, and guess what? We turned it into an Amazing Race challenge! We used our map skills to solve clues and find hidden locations around the school. It was a blast, and we even had some friendly competition. Everyone did a fantastic job, and we learned a lot about how coordinates work and how to use them to navigate!
In other news, we had the chance to go to the State School Spectacular rehearsals! It was such a special event where we got to practice songs that we’ll be performing in September. The atmosphere was electric, and it was awesome to see so many schools coming together to prepare for this big event. We can’t wait to show off our skills and be part of something so incredible!
In writing, we had a super interesting science experiment where we made sandwiches and let them go mouldy. Yep, you heard that right! We then wrote a procedure text about how we did the experiment. This is our focus text type for the first four weeks of Term 3, and it’s been a great way to learn how to write clear instructions and describe processes. Who knew writing about mouldy sandwiches could be so much fun?
That’s all for this edition. We hope you’re as excited about our activities as we are. Stay tuned for more updates, and keep up the amazing work!
