PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

We hope you all enjoyed the King’s Birthday public holiday, with our Report Writing Day last Friday making it an extra-long, long weekend.  The longer break has come at a good time, with lots of illness going around at present.  Hopefully students (and staff!) were able to re-charge that little bit to get through to the school holiday break, now only two weeks away!

Hamilton Eisteddfod

Last Thursday our grade 3 to 6 choir performed beautifully in the Choral Section of the Hamilton Eisteddfod, receiving an Honourable Mention following their performance of two songs.  Our choir was the first group to perform and despite the usual nerves, the numerous lunchtimes of rehearsing shone though.  Thank you to Mrs Garland for the time, effort and guidance that has gone into leading this group, and thanks also to Lee Muhktar for her support in conducting the group through their performances.

Many other Gray Street students have also competed in various categories of the Hamilton Eisteddfod over the past week or two through their involvement in out-of-school activities.  It is a big achievement to perform live in front of others – well done to everyone who has been involved.

Staffing Change

Mrs Liisa Beaton was scheduled to take leave in the last week of term, and for the first three weeks of term 3, however her mother has sadly passed away back in England.  Mrs Beaton has now commenced her leave early and is being replaced in 1/2A by Mrs Louise Kelson who is sharing the teaching duties with Mrs Clarke.  Our condolences go out to Mrs Beaton and her family on their loss.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

Information was sent home to families on Wednesday detailing how Parent/Teacher Interviews can be requested for families to discuss the progress of your child with teachers.   A reminder that the schedule is as follows:

Prep Interviews

  • Tuesday 18th June (Week 10)
  • Thursday 27th June (Week 11)

Grade 1/2B Interviews

  • Tuesday 18th June (Week 10)

All other classes and grade levels will have interviews take place on:

  • Thursday 27th June (Week 11)

Families who are unable to access XUNO to select interview times are asked to contact the office and we will assist you. We look forward to the opportunity to catch up with parents to discuss the progress being made by students.

Semester 1 Reports

Individual student reports are currently being finalised. We anticipate this process will be completed with reports made available via XUNO by next Friday, 21st June. Parents will be notified how you may access reports and when reports will be available to download.

Grade 5 Baimbridge Transition Visit

Next Thursday 20th June all grade 5 students will spend the day at Baimbridge College as a part of our annual transition processes. Children are required to make their own way to and from Baimbridge College on the day and are to wear their Gray Street school (sports) uniform.  This will give our students great insight into what secondary school life might be like for them with many families already think ahead to school beyond Gray Street.  Further information will be sent home to families next week, prior to students attending Baimbridge on Thursday.

Grade 1/2 Swimming

Students in the Grade 1/2 classes will participate in swimming lessons for the first two weeks of term 3.  Notices regarding the program have been sent home for all families and we ask these are please returned by Tuesday of next week please if you haven’t yet had the chance to do so.

Students in the Grade 3/4 classes will participate in swimming lessons in week 3 or term 3.  Notices have been sent home today with children in grade 3 & 4.

Have a great weekend!
