From the Principal

You are better off to have a friend than to be all alone, because then you will get more enjoyment out of what you earn.

Ecclesiastes 4:9 (CEV)

School-examinations are one-sided; it is not so much academic education, as a moral and spiritual culture, which lifts one higher.

(SH 235:11–13)

To our wonderful Huntingtower community, our students whose enthusiasm inspires us all, our parents who remain steadfast in their support - whether it's early morning trainings, late night concerts, or weekend rehearsals - and our magnificent staff who match our students every step of the way, thank you!  What an amazing Semester it has been.

For anyone who attended our Winter Choral Concert last Friday night, it was indeed a treat to be serenaded by no less than 8 different Choirs made up of students from Year 4  to Year 12. Similarly, Wednesday night's Orchestral performance was nothing short of spectacular. Alongside these events, our Debaters are advancing through the season, our Chess team is gearing up for the state finals, Warrell House successfully conducted their annual fundraising day and the Student Wellbeing Committee celebrated Multicultural Day. It's clear that when given the chance, our students are willing to give things a go.

While I am immensely proud of all that we have achieved, it's not just the events themselves but the values they foster that are most significant. At a recent assembly, Mr. Bill Warrick, our School Chaplain, shared with the students the beliefs that guide our School. Founded in 1927, Huntingtower was established to promote the spiritual growth and identity of every student, not as a detached concept but as a collective endeavour. We provide an environment where it is possible to explore and connect with something greater than ourselves. Although we are very proud of our academic results, our accomplishments extend beyond this. It is in the values and camaraderie we all share that our spirituality and scholastic achievements derive.

By giving our energy, time and commitment to the many endeavours before us, we promote a spirit of collegiality and support. When we meet life's challenges with kindness and consideration, they cease to be challenges at all. Instead, our collective belief provides a foundation from which we can extend ourselves and pursue our passions. This is where growth begins.

As we head into the break, I hope it offers our students not just a chance to recharge but also a moment to pursue their interests and enjoy the satisfaction that comes from trying something new.
