Karoo Parents Association (KPA)

An update from the KPA

The Karoo Parents Association (KPA) has had a busy Term 2, with several committee meetings and plenty of activities across the school.

Early this term, the committee planned for and ran the Mother’s Day stalls, and with only 12 loofahs leftover out of more than 1200 items sold, it was a very successful community event! Later that week we ran the Mother’s Day afternoon tea and despite the drizzle, we made more than 100 cups of tea and coffee, with so many mums and other special people turning out for a delicious spread and a warm drink. Thanks to our generous donors for the yummy snacks and raffle prizes, and congratulations to our raffle winners!

Shortly after that, the KPA worked with Mrs Robyn Harris to support Education Support (ES) Appreciation Day, with custom cookies and a morning tea for those unsung heroes who help all the students in our school community. A big thank you all of Karoo’s amazing ES team for everything you do.

Behind the scenes, one of our committee members has been steadily working to sort through and collate all donated clothing for our second-hand uniform stalls that run periodically throughout the year. We do love donations for these, but please make sure they’re clean, without holes and all Karoo branded.

We’ve also begun to make sense of the lost property and are looking forward to implementing a new system that will hopefully help lost items find their owners more swiftly. In addition to this, we’re proposing to have the lost property items available for parent perusal each fortnight on a Friday afternoon, to coincide with school assemblies and of course the infamous coffee van! Families can pop by to check for a lost item and hopefully be reunited!

Planning for the upcoming Father’s Day stalls is well underway with items already ordered. We’re also cooking up a “new look” Father’s Day breakfast – watch out for an invitation from your children to attend this morning event in the week before Father’s Day later in the year.

Lastly, plans are commencing for two social events that will occur later this year – Trivia Night on 19 October (save the date for a fun, adults-only night out!) and a Family Games Night (date TBC).
