BALLARAT YOUNG AUTHORS’ PROGRAM

Last Thursday afternoon our Year 4 and 5 students involved in the Ballarat Young Authors’ Program attended the Program Launch with their families.

The students were welcomed to the program, provided with information about the upcoming workshops and also heard from local authors, Scot Gardner and Nicole Kelly, who will be involved in working with the students in the upcoming workshops.

Despite the fact it was a pupil free day and a rainy afternoon, there was a huge crowd in attendance and the afternoon was a great success. Many thanks to our parents and carers who attended and transported the students to and from the venue, we appreciate your support. Thanks also to our 2023 participants, Piper and Ivy (and their parents), who attended and spoke to the audience about their experience in the Young Authors’ Program last year.  We also thank Kayla and Ella who took part in a video interview that was shown at the launch. All 4 students did a fabulous job, and we are very proud of the way you spoke about your experiences and inspired this years’ participants.

Congratulations once again to all students selected for this year’s Young Authors’ Program!  We look forward to sharing the experiences of our first workshop on June 27th with the school community early next term.

BULLDOGS READ PROGRAM LIBRARY VISIT

Yesterday our Bulldogs Read Program participants visited the new Ballarat Central Library.  Students were involved in a tour of the library with the Children’s Librarian.  They also had an opportunity to browse the extensive collection and borrow using the new self-serve checkout system.

The visit was a huge success, and the students are already planning how they can get their families to visit with them in the upcoming school holidays after they hear about the various programs and resources that the library has to offer…all for free!

Below are some photos that give you an insight into our very enjoyable visit to the Ballarat Central Library.
