Tiny Town box making, where each group’s creation will be put together (not taken home)

a dance workshop

Nature Play inquiry play making mud pies – bring gumboots and raincoats Tuesday 1/2AK or Thursday 1/2Z

On Friday afternoon, parents and carers are invited into the school to hear about all the learning that has happened during the week.

Students will arrive at school as usual for the morning and return to class after lunch.

Thank you to the volunteers who are helping with these activities.

Excursions

Thank you to the parent volunteers who came along to the Duck Pond and Planetarium! We greatly value your support and the students all enjoyed the learning and time together.

Take Home Books

Decodable and interest books are being sent home in the clear plastic envelope. Your child will need the clear plastic envelope at school in order to take books home. Interest books can be changed any day. We will remind students on Mondays.

Reading – We encourage approximately 10-15 minutes each night.

Home Inquiry

Each day, talk about the GLOW Week activity you did that day. What did you enjoy about exploring and learning? How did you collaborate (work with) other students?

Did you show learner profile attributes: Were you a communicator, knowledgeable, a thinker, balanced, reflective, a risk taker, caring, an inquirer?

What did you find challenging? What could you do the next day to help you make the most of your learning?

Learning for Week 9:

Literacy:

Writer’s Workshop: students will create a book with a photo and writing for each activity they do for GLOW week. They will bring it home at the end of the week.

Spelling

Each week there is a focus ‘sound of the week’. Students are introduced to groups of words which use the spelling patterns and revise the alternative spellings of vowel sounds.

The sound of the week is not intended to be a spelling list for you to teach your child at home. It is for you to be aware of what we are teaching at school and you are welcome to use the sound as a starting point for your child to share what they are learning.
