Research by Desforges and Abouchar (2003) highlights that good parenting has a major, positive impact on a child's achievements and development. This includes creating a safe, secure, and intellectually stimulating home while actively modelling educational values and aspirations. 

What does this look like in practice?

Creating a Haven of Safety and Security: Learning requires vulnerability. When a home is a safe place where children feel unconditionally loved and free to make mistakes, their brains are primed to take risks, ask big questions, and grow.

Cultivating an Intellectually Stimulating Environment: This simply means leaning into curiosity together. Talk about the world around the dinner table or in the car, read books as a family, explore nature, and encourage a healthy sense of wonder about how things work.
