EDSC success at the Whitehorse Division Athletics Carnival 

In perfect weather conditions on Wednesday 9 August, the EDSC Athletics team participated strongly in the Whitehorse Division Athletics Carnival. 85+ students represented the College in both individual (track and field) events and relays.

 

Overall, EDSC placed second in the team competition which was a brave effort and huge congratulations (and thank you) should go to all members of the team who participated in events at the last minute on the day. A thank you also to all staff who assisted on the day – Leanne Kaufmann, Rebecca James, Laura Crake, Tayla Scheele and Glenn Baker (who ran the carnival as Division Coordinator). 

 

In a day full of many highlights, congratulations goes to the following students who were awarded age group champions for the carnival: 

 

Girls 12-13 Years – Allegria

Boys 12-13 Years – Jaythan

Boys 15 Years – Brian

Girls 15 Years – Victoria

Boys 17 Years – Flynn

 

More specifically, qualifiers in individual events for EMR are: 

Eddric        (Boys 12-13 Years) – Javelin

Heman        (Boys 12-13 Years) – Triple Jump

Jaythan       (Boys 12-13 Years) – 100m, 800m, Discus

Allegria       (Girls 12-13 Years) – 100m, 200m, Javelin, Long Jump, Shot Put

Tara            (Girls 12-13 Years) – Triple Jump

Levi              (Girls 12-13 Years) – 80m Hurdles

Jaimee        (Girls 14 Years) – 1500m

Siena           (Girls 14 Years) – Discus

Adlee         (Boys 15 Years) – Shot Put

Brian            (Boys 15 Years) – Discus, Triple Jump

Maisie        (Girls 15 Years) – 1500m, 3000m

Victoria     (Girls 15 Years) – Long, Jump, Shot Put, Triple Jump

Yishan         (Boys 16 Years) – 400m, 1500m, 3000m

Courtney  (Girls 16 Years) – 800m, 1500m

Josh             (Boys 17 Years) – 100m, 200m

Riley           (Boys 17 Years) – High Jump, Triple Jump

Flynn        (Boys 17 Years) – 400m, 800m, 1500m, 3000m

Maddie      (Girls 17 Years) – 1500m

Kalan           (Boys 18-20 Years) – 1500m, High Jump

Niamh        (Girls 18-20 Years) – 100m Hurdles

Megan       (Girls 18-20 Years) – 1500m, 3000m

 

The previously mentioned age champions along with all the above-mentioned students will have the opportunity to represent the school in the EMR Track and Field Championship on October 9 at the Knox Athletics Centre. The participants will be informed via and event on compass over the next few weeks. We wish them all the best with their preparation and training in the lead up to this event.
