Athletics News

We now find ourselves halfway through a very short but exciting Athletics season with many of our boys already showing marked improvements under the tutelage of Mrs Simms and her Athletics coaches. I would very much like to acknowledge the members of the squad and in particular, new members who have put themselves forward to represent the College. Your contribution in the Blue, Black, Gold is invaluable.

This coming Saturday, the College will co-host an Invitation Carnival at SOPAC (Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre) in the final meet prior to the ISA Championships. On behalf of the SPC community, I would like to pass on our best wishes to the Athletics Fraternity as they try to restore our position as a leading Athletics powerhouse. Special thanks are extended to Mr Calavassy for his role in administering this weekend’s carnival.

Senior School Winter Sports Presentation Evenings

Parents/carers and boys are reminded that the Senior School Winter Sports Presentation Evenings will be held at the following times in Week 9:

  • Secondary Rugby Presentation Evening – 7:15 PM – Gymnasium - Wednesday 13 September
  • Secondary Tennis Presentation Evening – 7:15 PM – Robson Auditorium - Thursday 14 September
  • Secondary Football Presentation Evening – 7:15 PM – Gymnasium - Thursday 14 September

Attendance by all students involved with these activities is a clear expectation. Any request for leave should be forwarded to Mr Fochesato or Mr Calavassy.

In terms of parking, the College requests that no one parks their car in Hydebrae Street (which runs at ninety degrees from Francis Street and the Senior McGlade Library) at any time. Its narrowness makes resident parking difficult and non-resident parking can present a safety risk by preventing access to emergency vehicles. I would encourage parents and students to carpool where possible.

Please note that the aim is to complete the Presentation Evenings by no later than 9:15 PM (Football and Rugby). Tennis will most likely be finished by 8:15 PM. Given that, please organise transport arrangements around that, particularly when it comes to picking up your son/s.
