Co-curricular - Junior Sport

Last Wednesday a group of boys from the Junior School headed out to Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre (SOPAC) to test their measure against some of the finest athletes IPSHA has to offer. On what could only be described as a glorious day for athletics, the boys from St Patrick’s threw, ran, and mixed it up with the best. Many of our boys placed in their heats giving them a good chance at IPSHA selection. On the day, many of the boys broke personal best times and distances and surprised themselves with the new heights they had reached. It was a very competitive carnival, and in the end, we had two students selected for the IPSHA team. Congratulations to Xavier Khoury, who goes through to compete in the 100m (12.75sec) and Zachary Muncaster in Discus (24.59m).

Congratulations should go to all the boys that represented the College so well during the Junior School Athletics season. It is a short, sharp, high intensity season, and the commitment of all the squad members was exemplary.

A reminder that Junior School sport photos are on Tuesday 12 September. All boys should know their times by now and have their Saturday playing uniforms ready for Tuesday. Head gear, mouth guards and shinpads should not be worn, however clean boots are required for Winter sport photos.

The draft draw has been posted on the College App under the tags for each of the Summer sports in the Junior School. Please be aware that it is a draft and subject to weekly changes. So, please make sure you check the Fixtures Tag each week for updates. It is very likely that Basketball fixture times at Auburn will be brought forward in Term 4. Summer sport training and games will commence upon our return to school in Term 4. There will be no sport training in the last two weeks of this term.
