Speak for Faith Competition 2023
On Saturday 12 August, Mary Carter (Year 12) competed in the Finals round of the Speak for Faith Competition at James Nestor Hall at the Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) head office in Leederville.
The Speak for Faith Competition is a joint project between the Catenian Association of Western Australia and CEWA, that encourages secondary students at Catholic colleges to express their faith and the Catholic ethos while developing their public speaking skills.
Mary was one of five finalists chosen from 15 contestants who prepared speeches on various topics relating to the connection between Religion and Life from a Catholic Faith perspective. Mary delivered a prepared speech about the Sacrament of Marriage in a secular society and then spoke on the impromptu question, 'Name one significant moral issue facing Australia at the present time and provide arguments about what should be done to deal with this issue'.
Congratulations to Mary on presenting an impressive speech and for representing our College with such enthusiasm and grace. We are all very proud of your efforts.
