Inter-House Athletics Carnival Results, ACC Girls All Stars AFL Team 2023, SSWA Junior Basketball Competition and Specialised Football Program Trials
On Wednesday 9 August, we held our Inter-House Athletics Carnival at Ern Clark Athletics Centre. It's a day filled with various track and field events, that fosters a sense of competition, teamwork, and school spirit among students. We were fortunate enough to have sunny conditions which only enriched the atmosphere on the day. Overall, it's a really exciting event that not only promotes physical fitness but also builds a strong sense of community. Often the memories stay with students long after they graduate too.
Below are the results from the Inter-House Athletics Carnival.

Thank you to our College staff for their support in the management and operational roles on the day. In particular, the Health and Physical Education Department and our Athletics Coach, Ms Lisa Hopkins, for the role they played in preparing the venue.
Congratulations to Paige Craven Bower (Year 12) for being selected to represent the ACC girls team in this year's All Stars AFL tri-series against the IGSSA and SSWA teams. The standard of players was very high and the ACC has commended the girls for putting themselves forward for selection.
Round 1 of the competition is scheduled for 12.00pm on Friday 25 August at Claremont Oval, with a formal jumper presentation at 10.15am in the Claremont Football Club rooms to acknowledge the players.
All the best for the competition, Paige.

Week 5 was action-packed, with our Junior Boys and Girls showcasing their talents at the SSWA Junior Basketball Competition. Willetton Stadium came to life on Monday and Thursday, as our young athletes demonstrated their teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship.
The carnival was a resounding success, with the Junior Girls and one of the Junior Boys teams making an impressive mark on the competition. Their outstanding performances have earned them a well-deserved place in the next stage of the competition on Wednesday 30 August.
We're incredibly proud of our budding basketball stars and their coaches for their hard work and dedication. Let's rally behind them as they prepare for the next stage of the competition and wish them the best of luck in the upcoming rounds.

On Thursday and Friday (Week 5), we held our 2024 Specialised Football Program trials. We had an incredible number of applicants and were blown away by the enthusiasm and talent on display. With the Program now offering a limited number of scholarships, we had a record number of applicants.
For those who weren't selected this time around, please know that this is just the beginning. I strongly encourage you to keep practicing, learning and growing and trial again next year.

On the back of the Matildas success in the Women's World Cup, held in Australia and New Zealand, football is well and truly on the rise. To put it into perspective, Australia hosted the biggest women's sporting event in history.
On a more local scale, the newly built State Football Centre is up and running in Queens Park. We're excited to utilise their world class facilities for our Specialised Football Program in the near future. I'm really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve in the coming years.
