Regional Hockey

On Wednesday a mix of Year 5 and 6  boys played in the Regional hockey final at Monash University Peninsula campus. They were lucky enough to sit the first one out enabling them to get a look at the opposition for the day . They then had to play two games back to back . The sun was out and the boys were eating to go! The first game was  won 7-1 with  it being a whole team effort. Aidan and Dylan scored great goals and Alex, Jack, Tobin and Paul defended well keeping them scoreless until the last 2 minutes. The second game was a lot tougher . It saw the boys down 2-0 at half time but they rallied themselves at the half time break  , kept on trying and came back to draw 2-2 . Well done to Jack who never gave up , Dane and Aidan who were both injured but stuck it out and to Steffen for scoring the goals which were assisted by Eddie. Paul and Tobin were superb in defence and  Dylan and Alex ran their hearts out even though they were exhausted from Somers Camp. In the end as it was a draw and one win each , It came down to the amount of goals scored on the day and the boys are now advancing to the State Finals on September 7. Good luck boys !

Japanese

Konnichiwa,

We are going to try and make a video like the one below but for our BPS community.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_XBuWgoa0w

The video shows counting in Japanese with all the people saying their age in Japanese.

We would LOVE to recreate this but with students / people from our community-I’m not sure we can get to 100 but we can try?

If you’re happy to contribute, can you please take a short video of yourself or anyone else saying their age in Japanese (see the video for help with pronunciation) and send it to school. Beaumaris.ps@education.vic.gov.au

I will collate and create our own BPS school video counting guide in Japanese.

We would love to have this completed by Japanese day if possible (Tuesday 29th August)

Arigatou gozaimasu (thank you very much)

I look forward to receiving your videos 😊

Walkathon - Friday 8 September

Superhero students and champion families, get ready!  It’s time for our 2023 Beaumaris Primary School Walkathon.

After the success of our first Walkathon last year, we are very excited to be holding this event - not only to raise funds towards the refurbishment of the School Hall, but to enjoy a morning full of laughter, exercise and school spirit for our students, teachers and families.  2022’s walk was loads of fun and raised over $24,000… but this year will be even better as we utilise our wonderful new oval, which we helped to fundraise for in last year’s Walkathon!

The Walkathon event will see students walk up to 10 laps of the school oval (Prep to Year 2 – from 9.15am) or around part of the school perimeter (Years 3 to Year 6 – from 9.30am). Students will walk with their teachers and we will be inviting parent volunteers to help out on the day.

To raise funds for Beaumaris Primary School, students are encouraged to ask their family and friends to sponsor their Walkathon effort.  Here’s how…

Walkathon – How to get sponsors

We are using online fundraising page Raisely, so it is easy to invite friends and family to sponsor your child’s participation in the Walkathon.

Go to 2023walkathon.raisely.com where parents/carers can Sign Up to create a profile for each student.  We encourage families to be mindful of your online privacy when signing up and suggest considering using first name and last initial, or an appropriate nickname.

Don’t forget to “Join A Team” and select your class, to make sure your donations are added to your class tally.  The class that raises the most sponsorship money will win a special lunch and a trophy!  There will also be prizes for the second and third highest fundraising classes.

Once your profile is set up, you can share the link with family and friends to invite them to sponsor your participation in the Walkathon and help Beaumaris Primary.

If you prefer to use a paper sponsorship form, they are available from the School Office.

On the Day

The theme of the Walkathon is “Heroes and Champions”.  Students are invited to dress as their hero or a champion they admire.

Students need to bring a water bottle.

Number of Laps to be walked: All students will walk a maximum of 10 laps.

Years Prep, 1 and 2 Walk

At Beaumaris Primary School – around the school oval.

Time: (Prep - 2):  9.15 – 10.15am (walk time is approx. 1 hour)

Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 Walk

At Beaumaris Primary School – a circular walk around part of the school perimeter (details to be advised).

Time: (Year 3 - 6): 9.30 – 10.30am (approx)

So, put on your superhero cape and head to 2023walkathon.raisely.com, set up your child's profile and start sharing the word about sponsoring students for the Beaumaris Primary School Walkathon.  It's going to be a great event, and your support is appreciated.
