Junior School Family Maths Afternoon

What an amazing sight it was to see 200 people, adults and children, laughing, concentrating and exploring Mathematics together. The joy of Mathematics was clearly evident.

Families moved their way through seven stations where they could apply their learning.

  1. Creating pictures on a geoboard using up to eight shapes.
  2. Making a Numicon tower.
  3. Fishing for tens – using two or three cards to make 10.
  4. Cookie challenge – trying to get the most chocolate chips.
  5. Top trumps – using mental maths skills to pick the best card and beat your opponents.
  6. Tetrahedral Kite.
  7. Honeycomb Collaboration.

Students then submitted their passports to go into the entry for a prize. Congratulations to Layla Trusler (Prep A) for winning the prize.

I wish to thank all the parents and students for supporting this event and the amazing Junior School staff for supporting me in running it. I look forward with anticipation to Family Maths 2024.
