Year 9 Community Service
The Year 9 Community Service students had the opportunity to do some more planting for the Glenelg Hopkins CMA along the banks of the Merri River. Not only did they get the chance to care for the environment, but they also got to appreciate the recreational benefits of improving the health of the river by having some time to go fishing. The Standard even wrote an article on these activities, which you can read below or view online.

Year 10 - 12 Financial Futures Seminar
Our Year 10, 11 and 12 Students had the opportunity to hear about various aspects of preparing financially for their future, through a seminar hosted at King’s College last Tuesday.
Matt Porter, of the Neil Porter Legacy organised representatives from Beyond Bank and Sinclair Wilson to speak to students and answer questions on topics such as:
- Applying for a Tax File Number
- Paying Tax
- Reading Payslips
- Superannuation
- Bank Loans
- Saving Tips
- Centrelink Benefits
- Youth Allowance.
The presentation was very informative. Students were provided with a summary of the basics in relation to Student and Youth Allowance by Sinclair Wilson, as a take home handout. Further copies of this are available for any parents or students who would like a copy.
Our thanks go to the following people for their willingness to organise the event and share their expertise:
- Matt Porter and Ruby Absolm from the Neil Porter Legacy
- Grant Howland from Beyond Bank
- Laurisa Walther and Jon Pegler from Sinclair Wilson
- Demo Dairy for financially supporting this event

Food Tech
This week we had a very small Food Tech class. The students wanted to make some healthy Freakshakes. Loads of tasty fun!
