Ms Cerene Hughes - Head of Sport and Activities

As we approach the mid-point of our Term 3 sports activities, I would like to extend my congratulations to the students participating in Athletics, Hockey, Netball, Tennis and Volleyball for their performances thus far.

The spirit of competition and resilience displayed during our Friday night meets and Saturday fixtures across all programs has been inspiring, reflecting the progress of our program development in 2023. While perfection is not our goal, it's evident that each program is advancing in the right direction.

I am pleased to observe our students effectively managing their academic and cocurricular commitments, maintaining a balance between preparing for performances and fixtures while meeting classroom expectations. This speaks volumes about their dedication to excellence at Clayfield College.

As we anticipate the transition into the next season with preparations and trials, an additional layer of complexity is introduced for our already busy students. It is easy to get caught up in looking far ahead, but we remind them of the value of authenticity. This entails living in the present moment with conviction, self-assurance, and staying true to one's core identity.

Being authentic means being honest, trustworthy, and living by a set of morals and principles. It's a cornerstone of an integrity-driven life.

For instance, if you commit to playing a season of Netball, it's crucial to be present and punctual for warm-up on Saturday mornings. Your teammates rely on you. Regardless of travel, opponents, or any other factors, your commitment remains unwavering.

If you possess the potential to excel in Track and Field, dedicate yourself to training and give your best performance. Your sense of responsibility and how you fulfill it becomes a clear reflection of your character.

We encourage Clayfield students to uphold their authenticity by honouring their commitments, putting forth their best effort until the end of each season, remaining open to coaching, and giving their all during every training session and game until the final moment. Students are urged to be conscious of their thoughts and mindful of the impact their actions have on others.
