Dear Parents/Carers

As a school we celebrated the Feast of the Assumption on Tuesday. Mass was a very reverent celebration and we reflected on how Mary said yes to God in her life, trusting in him even when this meant things may be difficult. Our challenge in our lives is to, like Mary, live our daily lives modelled on Christ.

Assembly not on tomorrow delayed to Monday

Due to Fr John's 40th anniversary of ordination celebrations being set up in the hall on Friday and the inclement weather we are changing our assembly time this week. Assembly will now be Monday 21 August at 2.30 in the hall.

Child Safety and Working With Children Check

It is a legal requirement for any helper either in the classroom or for excursions to have a Working With Children Check (WWCC). We must have a copy of this in our office. If your have not submitted a copy of your WWCC or have recently received a new one please bring it to the office for us to photocopy and file. Thank you.

Swimming Program

Next week (21-25th August) students will take part in a week of swimming lessons at Camberwell Grammar. Thank you to everyone who has already completed the permission form on Operoo. Please complete this ASAP if you have not yet done so.

Parents Attending Swimming

To the parents who are attending swimming, it is a regulation of the Swimming centre that all parents including rostered helpers are not on the swimming deck but remain up in the viewing area. This is an occupational health and safety regulation as well as part of the Child Safety risk assessment procedure.

When the children move to the change rooms then rostered parent helpers can make their way to the change rooms.

All parent helpers must have a current Working with Children Check and a copy of this must be filed at the St Bede's Office.

Book Fair in the Library

The Book Fair is open and the children have all enjoyed browsing the fair. Sales are open each morning 8.20 to 8.45am and in the afternoon from 3.15 to 3.30pm. The Book Fair will close next Tuesday.

The Book Fair raises money for our library that we can use to purchase books and resources.

Fr John's Anniversary of Ordination

Fr John celebrates his 40th anniversary of ordination this weekend. The Parish is celebrating at the 11am mass. Please come and join in the celebrations. Congratulations Fr John

Art Show

The children and staff are busily preparing for the Art Show on the 7th September. Each child is preparing pieces both in their Art Lessons and within their class inquiry into creativity. This should be a wonderful showcase of the children's learning this term. Please keep the date free and perhaps some grandparents may wish to visit as well.

Premier's Reading Challenge - Wild About Reading

A reminder that the children that enrolled in the Premier's Reading Challenge have until 8th September to read the required number of books.
