Book Week – Celebrating the Love of Reading

We are celebrating Book Week this week and it has been a lot of fun!  Families excelled this year with wonderful costumes for their children on book character dress up day and Team Tally delighted our students by joining in the fun.

Stop Drop and Read and the Book Fair have been popular and a visit from author, Lucas Proudfoot, was a wonderful learning experience.

Thank you to our P&C for running our Book Fair and all the wonderful volunteers who helped!

Mathematics Competition Win

Recently, teams of mathematicians from five schools competed in the QAMT (Queensland Association of Mathematics Teachers) Year 5/6 Quiz Competition.  There were nineteen teams and the competition was fierce!

Congratulations to Tallebudgera Team 1 –Josh, Aki and Charlotte who were crowned the overall winners and will move on to Round 2 of the competition later this term.  Tallebudgera also took out the winning school of the night with the highest combined school score, to win the perpetual cluster trophy for a second year in a row.  Congratulations also to our competitors Louis, Imogen, Samuel, Julian, Callum, Lucy, Reeve, Liam, Amara, Liam, Jamie and Charlie.

Thank you to Mrs Lawrence for coaching our teams to prepare for this competition!

P&C Trivia Night

To say that our P&C Trivia Night last weekend was incredibly fun would be an understatement!  Parents, carers and staff enjoyed a night of 90s trivia, games, a Matildas’ win, dinner, fancy dress and more.  The Alleygators Rugby Club were wonderful hosts (thank you to Jamie), and our P&C and volunteers did a fabulous job.  Our P&C Executive Team, Lucy Pritchard, Fiona Luke, Corinne Campbell and James Hill organised this event and I thank them for making this possible for our school community.

We are very grateful to the outpouring of generosity from our prosperity partners, PRD Real Estate Burleigh Heads, Nurse Next Door, Cricks Tweed, Blackk Mortgage Brokers, Positive Energy Tennis Club and other supporters of our school for this event.

Wellbeing Workshops for Parents and Carers

Thank you to our school Psychologist, Ally Shah, who ran our inaugural Building Resilience workshop for parents and carers of children in Prep this week.  The workshop presented information and practical strategies to help children build resilience.  We are progressively expanding our offerings to families in the area of wellbeing and parents and carers of our 2024 Preps will be invited to attend this workshop later this year.

Our program supporting the successful transition to high school, called Level Up, is psychologist and Curriculum Leader developed and in its second year.  Level Up includes wellbeing lessons for students and a workshop for parents and carers.

Recently, we were delighted to have Petris Lapis, special guest presenter, facilitate a wellbeing workshop for parents and carers on Tally Way Community Day.

New Building and Playground

Work is progressing well on our facilities upgrade that will result in 8 new classrooms and a new playground overlooking the oval.  This is a major project and we are seeing changes each day.  At this stage, site preparation is in progress and retaining work will commence soon.
