Pastoral Bulletin

Welcome to Week 8 of Term 3 2023

News and Reminders from your Pastoral Leaders.

General School News

  • Pupil Free Day - September 1 for all Secondary Schools across Queensland for QCAA Confirmation Event. No students are to attend school on this day.
  • Good luck to students competing in the JCU Optiminds Competition this weekend. We look forward to hearing about your success next week.
  • A reminder that if you are witnessing or experiencing mean-spirited, nasty or bullying behaviour occurring in the College, please reach out to a student protection contact, head of year, pastoral mentor, teacher, friend or parent to seek support and guidance to address this behaviour. Everyone deserves to feel safe in our community.
  • With only three weeks of school remaining, it is important students are checking assessment calendars to ensure they meet assessment deadlines. We recommend, across the College, significant study and revision should be taking place at this time. Please reach out to your teachers for support should you require it during this time.
  • The car park for the businesses opposite the school has been becoming increasingly congested. This should not be used for school drop offs or pick ups. Students should not be congregating there either. The businesses need this space for their own customers. Please make arrangements with your young person to use the stop-drop-go zone or a safe side street spot.
  • Council has advised of roadworks planned for Anderson Rd on Monday 28 August which will include a lane closure at the Windarra St roundabout, with detours in place for westbound traffic between school drop off and pick up times.

  • Congratulations to Lucas Williams, Morghan Nash, Charli Francis, Brin Barbagallo, Boston Demas, Kieran Smith and Dallas Pearce. These students represented the College and cohort at the All Schools Touch Tournament in Townsville. They contributed to the Junior Team achieving an amazing second place!
  • Fantastic job to Jordyn Adams, Jasmine Martyn, Emily Doherty, Lily Burns and Riley Peppler who represented the College at the JCU Optiminds Competition.
  • As we are well and truly in the middle of assessment season, just a reminder that if students are absent for exams or submission dates for legitimate reasons, any requests for extensions must be made with, and approved by, the relevant Curriculum Heads of Department.

  • Congratulations to the above Yr11s on receiving a Head of Year Certificate of Merit. Well done on your hard work!
  • Congratulations also to all of our Yr11s who applied for a Yr12 leadership position; the selection process has now ended. It has been a challenging, engaging and promising endeavour. I wish the selected students well and I hope to see full support from our cohort as they tend to their roles next year. Positions will be announced soon.
