World Skills

Our Year 10 students had a fantastic experience at the World Skills Expo, where they were privy to a plethora of jobs and occupations, pathways and alternative learning avenues.  Worldskills is referred to as the Olympics of Trade and the event did not disappoint.

Students asked insightful questions and listened to presenters intently while absorbing all that was on offer.

Below we have wonderful feedback from some of our Year 10 students.

I enjoyed the different career showcases and what interesting jobs others have as well. Also, having a good look around, meeting, and talking to new people. I also enjoyed getting to look around in small groups on our own. I really enjoyed learning about the different career options and pathways.

I love seeing all the different careers and people doing what they love. I was surprised by the number of showcases and various jobs available.

The Year 10 students went to the Worldskills expo, and we looked around at a wide range and variety of jobs, hobbies, interests, and communities, as well as organisations and businesses. Most importantly, we looked at possible Chris, creepers, and options we were able to interact with you and explore new career options, and some of us have not even heard of some. It was so fun, and we got a lot of freebies and goodies as well. It was such a great experience, and even though we weren’t looking to find a career at that moment, it was a really fun and exciting activity.

On Thursday, 17 August, Ms Deboer Miss Christoforou took all of the Year 10 students via bus to the Melbourne Exhibition Centre for the World Skills event. It was an awesome day out, where we got some insight on careers we may take on in our futures, we asked questions about careers. We were interested in grabbing some key information to assist us in entering the industry. Watching the practicals where they were essentially ‘at work’ was interesting. There were also opportunities to collect memorabilia.
