1/2 Classrooms

Hello awesome 1/2 parents and carers!
Welcome back to Term 3! It has been a wonderful start to the term! Over the past few weeks, students have settled back into school routines and have been working hard as they jumped straight back into their learning.
Although our wonderful parent helper program has become a well-oiled machine in Grade 1/2, we are always looking for more volunteers. If you would like to support our students by listening to them read in English or Spanish, we would love to hear from you. Please pop in and speak with your child's classroom teacher if you are interested in helping.
Special Events
Over the next two weeks we will have some exciting events:
- Incursion - World Dance: the incursion will be held on Thursday the 30th of July at the Gym.
- Athletics Carnival: the special event will be held at Coburg Harries Athletics Club at 1.00 pm. Students and staff will walk to and from the venue using the designated walking route.
English Classroom News
Our students have been busy learning about a range of persuasive language features. Grade 1/2 students have explored the difference between facts and opinions, learnt about thinking verbs, and are now exploring modal words such as must and should, as well as the persuasive technique known as the Rule of Three.
In Mathematics, students have been learning all about time, from creating daily timetables to reading and making times on analogue and digital clock faces. They have been developing their understanding of how we measure time throughout the day and applying their knowledge to real-life situations.
Spanish Classroom News
In Spanish, we are thrilled to introduce our new topic: "Búsqueda del tesoro" (Treasure Hunt)! Our students are currently diving into exciting new vocabulary and key grammar structures that will help them map out their adventures. The children have shown incredible enthusiasm and motivation as they work on writing their own instructional texts, step-by-step guides that will ultimately lead them to find hidden treasure. It has been inspiring to see their creativity and language skills grow through such an engaging project!
