Foundation Classrooms

Literacy

English

The Foundation students are learning how to write persuasive texts and we think they are already doing an amazing job! Children have been developiong arguments for brushing teeth, going to bed early, which ice cream flavour is best, and which season people should choose to go on holidays. Their language is incredible and we are so impressed with their writing. Well done Foundation!

Spanish

Students have been practicing their pronounciation, counting, classroom instruction, and verbs. Students have been busy organising and matching pictures to instructions and rehearsing them in the classroom. It is so wonderful to see the level of engagement in our Spanish classes this term, we can really see all the children's hard work paying off!

Writers in Residence

Every three weeks, we'll celebrate a different student author, by showcasing their work in both languages. Enjoy this edition's of Writers in Residence.

Check out Hazel's writing in both English and Spanish, Congratulations to Hazel!

Maths

Maths

Students have been busy measuring and sequencing. They have been looking at calendars, working with dates and days of the week, and creating personalised timetables for their school week. Next week we dive into addition and subtraction and we can't wait to begin problem solving these formulas and story puzzles with our clever Foundation students.

Events

Athletics

Athletics is on Friday the 31st of July and we in Foundation are excited for our events! We will walk to the track from school, leaving at midday on Friday. Please pack a snack in a seperate small bag for your Foundation child to use on the day. They will carry this bag to the track and leave their larger school bag at school. School ends at the usual time of 3:30pm.

100 Days of School

On Monday the 3rd of August we will celebrate 100 days of school! Children are encouraged to dress up as either a 100 year old or someone from 100 years ago. On the Monday we will celebrate with a parade, photo opportunities, and activities themed around the number 100. Parents are invited to attend the parade and photos in the morning.
