NAIDOC Colouring Competition Winners
National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year, to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
To acknowledge NAIDOC Week at St Patrick's, a colouring competition was held and students coloured the chosen artwork for this year. A winner from each class was awarded a small prize.

F/1 Maths
For the first two weeks of term, Junior students have been exploring the topic of ‘Shape’. The F/1 classes started with 2D shapes and then learnt about the names of 3D shapes including: cube, sphere, cylinder and cone. Our favourite lesson was investigating 3D objects in our environment and sorting them into the 4 types of 3D shapes we had learned about.
Over the coming weeks we are excited to delve into a new topic, exploring the concept of equal grouping, developing early multiplication and division skills.
Student Expert Shares a Passion for Opals
Our middle classes were fortunate to welcome a very special guest speaker recently—one of our own Year 3 students! Corbin generously shared his extensive knowledge of opals, gems and rocks with students, captivating everyone with his enthusiasm and expertise.
During his presentation, Corbin explained how opals are formed, where they are mined in Australia, and why they are such unique and valuable gemstones. He also brought along an impressive collection of opal samples and proudly displayed some stunning jewellery he has handcrafted using his finds.
Corbin often spends his weekends fossicking for precious rocks and stones and has developed an incredible wealth of knowledge about Australia's natural treasures. His presentation linked perfectly with our current Earth Science unit, where students are exploring natural resources, rocks and the processes that shape our planet.
We are incredibly lucky to have such a knowledgeable young expert in our school community. Thank you, Corbin, for inspiring our students and sharing your passion with us!
