Year 9 Careers – New Google Classroom

Year 9 students now have access to the Class of 2029 Careers Google Classroom.

The Careers Google Classroom will be used to share information and opportunities that can help students begin exploring their interests, skills and future pathways. Throughout Years 9–12, students will receive information about:

  • career and industry exploration
  • university, TAFE and vocational education pathways
  • apprenticeships and traineeships
  • work experience and workplace learning
  • career expos, workshops and industry events
  • hands-on career and trade taster opportunities
  • school holiday programs and competitions
  • subject selection and future pathway planning.

Students are encouraged to check the Classroom regularly, as new opportunities will be added throughout the year. Some programs have limited places or application deadlines, so students should keep an eye on posts that interest them.

All Year 9 students were emailed the Google Classroom joining code last week. Students who have not yet joined are encouraged to check their school email and join the Class of 2029 Careers Google Classroom.

Year 10 Work Experience – Important Reminder

Year 10 students can continue to participate in work experience throughout 2026. Students are responsible for finding their own work experience placement and must complete all required paperwork and preparation before commencing.

Before attending work experience, students must:

  • complete a Student Placement Record (SPR), signed by the student, parent/carer and host employer
  • complete the MyWorkExperience online course and submit their certificate
  • submit all documentation to Mrs Hicks, Careers Adviser, for school approval.

Work experience must not commence until the placement has been approved by the school through Mrs Hicks. This is essential to ensure Department of Education requirements, including insurance arrangements, are in place.

The final week available for Year 10 work experience in 2026 is Week 9 of Term 4.

All instructions, forms and resources are available in the Class of 2028 Careers Google Classroom.

Year 11 – Careers Forum 2

Careers Forum 2 will be held on Tuesday 27 October during Connect.

Year 11 students will have the opportunity to hear directly from representatives from The University of Sydney, UTS, Australian Catholic University (ACU) and TAFE NSW.

The session will provide information and advice to help students begin planning their post-school pathways, including university, TAFE, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment. Students can learn more about courses, entry pathways and options available after Year 12.

Students must sign up to attend their preferred presentation. The sign-up form has been posted in the Year 11 Careers Google Classroom.

Students are encouraged to select the presentation most relevant to their interests and take advantage of the opportunity to ask questions directly of the visiting representatives.

Year 12 – Congratulations and Good Luck

Congratulations to our Year 12 students as they reach the end of their formal schooling at Kellyville High School. This is a significant milestone, and we wish you every success with your upcoming HSC examinations and the exciting opportunities ahead.

Remember, your HSC results and ATAR do not define you or your future. There are many pathways to university, TAFE, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment, and there is always more than one way to reach your career goals.

Important UAC Dates

If you are planning to apply for university in 2027, make sure you keep track of these upcoming dates:

  • 30 September – UAC early bird deadline. If you haven't applied yet, aim to submit your application by this date before the application fee increases.
  • 5 November – SRS preference deadline
  • 12 November – SRS offers released
  • 19 November – EAS deadline for December Round 2
  • 16 December – HSC results and ATARs released
  • 18 December – Change of preferences deadline
  • 23 December – December Round 2 offers

Remember that you can list up to five course preferences through UAC and can change your preferences at different stages of the offer process.

Early Offers

Congratulations to students who have already received early university offers. Early offers will continue to be released through a range of university programs over the coming months, so keep checking your personal email and application portals.

If you don't receive an early offer, don't panic. Early entry is only one pathway to university. Offers will continue through UAC after HSC results and ATARs are released, and universities also offer a range of alternative entry pathways.

Need help? If you have questions about UAC, EAS, course preferences, an early offer or alternative pathways, come and see Mrs Hicks in Careers.

Further information regarding payment, permission and the requirements for the day will be sent to parents/carers via School Bytes for students who register.

Permission and payment must be completed via School Bytes by Thursday 12 November 2026.

Year 10 Explore Future Pathways at Western Sydney Careers & Employment Expo

On Friday 28 August, Year 10 students had the opportunity to attend the Western Sydney Careers & Employment Expo, exploring the many education, training and employment pathways available to them beyond school.

The expo brought together a wide range of universities, TAFE and training providers, employers, industry representatives and apprenticeship and traineeship organisations. Students were able to speak directly with exhibitors, ask questions and collect information about courses, careers and future opportunities.

For Year 10, the expo was a valuable opportunity to begin thinking about the connection between their interests, subject choices and future pathways. Students were encouraged to explore a range of options, including university, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, traineeships and direct entry into employment.

Thank you to our Year 10 students for representing Kellyville High School so positively throughout the day. We hope the experience has sparked some new ideas and encouraged students to continue exploring where their interests and skills might take them.

Pathways to Health – Special Guest Dr Rand Younes

We are excited to announce a special Pathways to Health presentation for students in Years 9–11 on Wednesday 25 November.

Thanks to Muhammad, who won the opportunity for our school to host Dr Rand Younes, Kellyville High School will welcome this inspiring health professional to speak with students about careers and pathways into the health sector.

Dr Younes is a dentist, healthcare entrepreneur and 2026 NSW Young Australian of the Year nominee. She migrated to Australia at the age of 11 with little English, went on to become dux of her school and later studied dentistry in rural NSW. At just 17, she founded a mobile dental service that has grown into Pearly, bringing dental care and education directly to children and communities with limited access to services. Pearly has now reached more than 150,000 children.

During her visit, Dr Younes will share her own education and career journey and talk to students about pathways into health careers, the opportunities available and the many different directions a career in health can take.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students considering medicine, dentistry, nursing, allied health or other health-related careers to hear directly from a young health professional and ask questions about their own future pathways.

Open to students in Years 9–11.

  • Wednesday 25 November
  • Interested students can sign up using this link.

Skills for Work – Macquarie University Visit

Students from our Z elective Skills for Work class recently visited Macquarie University to experience university life and explore the range of study and career pathways available after school.

The visit gave students an opportunity to step onto a university campus, learn more about tertiary study and see first-hand what university life can look like. Students explored the campus and gained a better understanding of the different facilities, courses and opportunities available to university students.

Experiences such as this are an important part of Skills for Work, encouraging students to explore different post-school options and develop their awareness of the many pathways available beyond Year 12.

Thank you to Macquarie University for welcoming our students and providing them with an opportunity to broaden their understanding of future study and career possibilities.
