Art Across the School

Foundation:

Inspired by our favourite fictional caterpillar, we have been making our own Very Hungry Caterpillars in the style of Eric Carle. Students painted and scraped paper to create different textures, then cut out and pasted the shapes to make a collage. They should be so proud of their hard work, I know I am. 

Year 1:

Year 1s have been having a ball creating some abstract circle watercolour paintings in the Art Room this week. They traced a bottle to create overlapping circles and have been making some very bold colour choices when painting each segment. They look awesome. 

Year 2:

The Year 2s have been working hard on their paper weaving projects and have made some absolutely incredible pieces. Once we got the art of making a regular grid to weave on down, we were able to get creative with our cutting and produced some amazing wonky, curved and zigzaggy weavings. Nice work Year 2!

Year 3/4:

It has been a labour of love for the Year 3/4 students creating their Contour Line Mountain Landscapes. They worked tirelessly creating intricate and detailed patterns using a fineliner on their mountains, then were able to get colourful by using watercolour paints to make a beautiful sky. The end results are amazing – stay tuned for a display of these somewhere around the school. Well done Year 3/4!

Year 5/6:

We have had a peaceful and (almost) meditative time in the Year 5/6 Art lessons over the last few weeks. Students have been in the zone creating abstract drawings with overlapping lines and rounded edges with sharpies ad fineliners. Next they added colour using watercolour paint, felt tip pens, coloured pencils, or a combination of all of them. These look spectacular and I’m really impressed with the care and creativity displayed by our 5/6s. Well done!
