Next week the school will be celebrating different minds for Neurodiversity Celebration Week 16th to 20th March

There will be a number of things happening around the school during the week,

• the pre bell music that plays will be calmer to assist in creating less chaos on entering into the classroom at the start of the day at at the end of recesses
• Community leaders have organised some activities for students to participate in during recess
• Students will watch videos and read books to help understand neurodiversity and how neurodivergent people experience the world
• there will be many posters up around the school to create awareness for the whole community on neurodiversity
• Morning tea in the staff room at 9am on Wednesday 18th March for any parents and carers who wish to come along
• Quiet assembly

New at Newlands! The Neurodivergent Families Collective

There are many neurodivergent families at NPS! We are part of the vibrant and diverse NPS community that we love so much at our school.

We are very excited to announce the Neurodivergent Families Collective, a newly formed parent-led, community-based group for families at NPS who have at least one neurodivergent family member: a parent or child, or both. People who self-identify as neurodivergent or who are exploring a diagnosis are very welcome!

Being part of a neurodivergent family can sometimes feel isolating. The Neurodivergent Families Collective offers a way for neurodivergent families at NPS to connect and support each other.

The Neurodivergent Families Collective also meets directly with NPS to share the perspectives of its members.
