Learning the RCC Way

Stage 6 Physics: Bringing Circuits to Life

Our Stage 6 Physics students have been hard at work transforming abstract ideas into real, working systems—one wire at a time. With a mix of careful planning, teamwork, and a bit of trial-and-error, students have been building and testing electrical circuits to explore how current, voltage, and resistance behave in the real world.

There’s always a great moment when the circuit finally works—the LED lights up, the connections hold, and theory becomes reality. Of course, there are also plenty of crossed wires, puzzled looks, and the occasional “Why isn’t this working?” moment—but that’s all part of the learning process.

It’s been fantastic to see students collaborating, problem-solving, and persevering as they develop both their technical skills and their confidence. Physics isn’t just something you read about—it’s something you build, test, and bring to life.

Fishing for Sport Elective in High School

There’s something special about stepping out onto the water in Ballina—rod in hand, waves rolling gently, and the quiet reminder of the beauty that surrounds us.  The Elective Sport of fishing is a wonderful way for students and staff to slow down, connect, and appreciate the incredible environment we’ve been given.

Touch Football Gala Day Success

On Tuesday 3 March, Richmond sent 6 teams to the CSSA Zone Touch Football Gala Day at Saunders Oval, Ballina. Other Christian schools competing included Tweed Heads, Casino, Goonellabah, Maclean, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Nambucca and Port Macquarie.

The Year 5/6 girls were very competitive, finishing an impressive 3rd place overall.

The Year 5/6 boys made the grand final, but lost by 1 try to finish 2nd overall.

Similarly, the 15 and under girls made the grand final but lost, placing second overall.

The 16+ (open) girls worked hard all day and managed to finish 1st overall.

The 15 and under boys went undefeated all day, winning their grand final to take the shield.

The 16+ (open) boys made the grand final, which resulted in a draw. They went to a drop off (extra time) and got down to 4 on 4 players, where Richmond managed to score the winning try. Such an exciting finish!

All staff and parent volunteers (Thanks Nick, Jan, Sharon and Stacey) were extremely impressed by our Richmond students' ability and attitude throughout the day. To say we are proud of the results is an understatement!

The day also served as a selection for CSSA State representation in Sydney.

Congratulations to the following students who were selected on the day:

  • Matt S, Jaxon W, Eli S, Henry S, Sid M, Shaylee T, Lily W, Ava R, Stella D
