Shine the Light

Foundation
Foundation students recently read the story Words and Your Heart and learned about how powerful our words can be. We talked about how the things we say can make others feel happy, sad, included, or hurt. Students thought carefully about kind and helpful things they could say to others. They then drew a picture of themselves and added a speech bubble showing positive words they could use, such as kind compliments, friendly greetings, or encouraging messages. It was a wonderful activity to help us remember that our words can make a big difference.
Year 3
The Year 3's were excited to finish their Naplan tests on Monday.
They have also been busy preparing for their first Reconcilation next week with Ms Trevaskis.
Year 4 Blue
In Inquiry we have been learning about the representation of the health in the media this lesson we made split into groups and started to make games about the topics we have explored.
Levi and Maddie (SRC)
Year 4 White
In Maths, we have continued learning about place value and have just finished that unit.
In English, we have explored persuasive techniques and how to use them effectively.
In Religion, we have explored the types of prayers.
In Inquiry, we are learning about how health messages are portrayed in the media.
Finally, in Spelling, we are breaking down words into morphemes (meaningful parts). The photos below show some of our students creating words using morpheme tiles. They are able to use the meanings to define their word creations.
Year 5 White
We are finished with NAPLAN! Even though it didn't work on the first day, due to Nation wide issues, we pushed through over the next four days and finished strongly on Tuesday. It was a little stressful and different having to complete the texts in a time limit - but we got through it.
Well done to everyone who did NAPLAN!
Year 5 Blue
MATHS
During maths classes, we learnt about decimal place value by playing a game called the Decimat Colour game.
NAPLAN
The past few weeks year 5's have been doing Naplan. The Naplan testing consists of reading, writing, maths and language conventions. Every morning we organised ourselves and got ready to do the testing. Although we had some technical difficulties at the start, we all got through it very well.
