Social Emotional Learning
In their Social Emotional Learning class, Year 8 students focused on building self-belief in themselves. 8N engaged in some shared reading led by the enthusiastic Tarun. He then followed up with reflection questions that asked his peers to analyse their own experiences and share with others. This activity illustrates student voice being used to increase student engagement, builds connection and a sense of belonging at school.
Shared reading is also a literacy strategy that supports the teaching of oral language, phonological awareness, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension.
