Dear SMCM Community, Wominjeka!

Thank you to all our mums and special visitors who were able to join us for our Mother's Day Morning on Monday! There was a wonderful atmosphere throughout our school as we hunted for letters, played games, decorated biscuits and had manicures! Thank you also to the volunteers who helped with last week's Mother's day stall.

Congratulations to our T-ball Teams who both placed Runners Up in the District Competition yesterday!

Capital Works Update

As a catholic school, governed by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), all of our capital works projects must be submitted and approved before they can commence. This is to ensure schools are well placed financially to support this work and to ensure we meet construction compliance requirements. 

Last year we submitted an application for a covered basketball court, however this was not deemed to be a financially viable project for the school. The MACS recommendation was to focus our capital works on the addition of new learning spaces. An application has been submitted for this and we await the outcome and announcement of additional government grants. 

While we wait on the approval of large scale capital works we will use funds raised from community events such as our School Fair and Colour Run to make smaller additions to our outside play facilities. The $100 Capital Funds Levy paid by each family will help fund the installation of glass partitions and sliding doors to create a dedicated Visual Arts space. 

Thank you to all families who meet their financial commitments and support our school events. 

Congratulations to Diana, Mark and Louis (Engineers Homegroup) on the safe arrival of your new baby boy Thomas!

Our thoughts and prayers are with Effie, Matthew and Milania (Newton Homegroup) on the passing of Effie's father. 

On Saturday our young parishioners will receive the Eucharist for the first time. We wish our students and their families a very blessed day.
