Fijian Principal Visit

Tenterfield High School had the pleasure of hosting Mr Emosi Kuli on Tuesday 14 & Wednesday 15 May, the Principal from Assemblies of God High School in Suva Fiji. Mr Kuli is visiting Australia on a Vocational Learning and Leadership experience. A joint scholarship program, the Royce and Jean Abbey Scholarship Award 2024, organised and supported by Rotary Burleigh Heads and Rotary Tenterfield.

Mr Douglas's Year 8 History students are currently learning about the Pacific Islands & Polynesian expansion. Mr Kuli spoke to students & discussed how schools in Fiji operate, explained their traditional uniform & how it reflects the Fijian culture. Students also learnt about traditional feasts (called a Lovo) where food is cooked underground, detailed the staple foods eaten in Fiji & viewed a cultural dance performed for the 75th Diamond Jubilee.

Mr Kuli presented Ms Scott, Mr Edmonds & THS with a thank you gift, a traditional hand carved memento showcasing the Fijian culture. It was a pleasure having Mr Kuli visit THS, thank you Rotary Tenterfield for the opportunity.
