A Word from the Maths Team…
Parents often ask us for advice on ways that they can support and extend their children's learning at home. One of the best ways to do this is by playing good-quality games. We’ve pulled together a few of the staff favourites – this collection is by no means exhaustive. It is designed as a starting point for seeing what is out there.
Language Games - Bananagrams, Articulate, 5 Second Rule, A Little Wordy
Classic Games: Shut the Box, Number Boggle, Chess, Scrabble, Pictionary
Card Games: Sleeping Queens, Rat-a-tat-Cat, Sushi Go
Collaborative play logic/reasoning games: Forbidden Island, Duel
Strategy Games: Ticket to Ride, Wyrmspan
Individual Play Problem solving: Various (Look for the Smart Games Logo)
Straight Number Games: Mobi, Prime Climb
We would love to invite all students to participate in our new Problem Solving Corner problems. Each fortnight we will publish new problems to be solved - both in the newsletter and in the window of The Maths Space.
If you would like to, have a go at solving the problem. When you have done what you can, post your solution in the letter box outside The Maths Space.
