Reflecting on the second week of the School Holiday Program

We hope everyone is back into the swing of things as we finish the third week of Term 2. This week’s newsletter is a reflection of the second week of the school holidays and the wonderful memories and exciting adventures. From creative construction to carnival delights, it was a week packed with fun for all!

One of the most thrilling projects of the week was the grand fort-building adventure led by Rob and Lucas. With cardboard boxes collected over the term, the children let their imaginations run wild as they planned, designed, and constructed a massive fort to play in all week long. Reinforced with nuts, bolts, and angle brackets for safety, this fortress became the epicentre of imagination and adventure for our adventurers.

One particularly delightful activity was our taster plates session, where the children sampled a variety of foods and engaged their senses in lively discussion. From sight to taste, smell to touch, and sound, they explored the sensory delights of each dish, fostering curiosity and appreciation for different flavours and textures.

Carnival Day was a spectacular affair, boasting our largest attendance since the pandemic began. The hall buzzed with excitement as children immersed themselves in a whirlwind of activities. From bouncing high on the massive jumping castle to grooving to the beats of Just Dance on a mobile TV, there was never a dull moment. Colourful gym mats invited playful rolls, while creative minds got to work at the colouring tables and construction mats. Fishing for floaties, giant board games, and LEGO construction sparked laughter and camaraderie, culminating in a spirited Just Dance Dance-off that had everyone on their feet.

And let's talk about the food – oh, the glorious food! From popcorn to fairy floss, party pies to sausage rolls, our carnival feast was a gastronomic delight. Homemade hot chips, garlic bread, chicken strips, and potato cakes filled hungry bellies, with a sweet treat of donuts and Easter eggs to top it all off. But the culinary adventure didn't stop there – Thursday brought the irresistible aroma of freshly made pizzas cooked to perfection in our hot pizza oven. They were simply divine!

To cap off our two weeks of adventure, we embarked on an exciting excursion to Cranbourne McDonalds. Traveling by train, the children learned valuable lessons in pedestrian safety as they navigated crossings and footpaths with care. Onboard the train, they relished the thrill of the journey, eagerly anticipating the delicious meal that awaited them at journey's end. It was a fitting finale to a busy and fulfilling vacation care experience.

Keep an eye out for the July Vacation Care Program which will be out in a few weeks.
