From the Principal
Congratulations to our Cross Country Team!!
Congratulations to our 2024 St Francis de Sales Cross Country Team. Our Team came 2nd today out of 10 schools when they competed at District Cross Country!!
We brought home our first Cross Country Pennant that will be proudly displayed in our trophy cabinet! W are so proud of the way that each child participated, displayed a great spirit of sportsmanship and persevered to give their BEST.
We now have 14 students who will go onto Divisional Cross Country later this term. We wish them the very best as they prepare for this next stage.
Working Bee - Saturday 4th May 9 am - 12 noon
We will be holding our first Working Bee for 2024 on Saturday, 4th May. A variety of gardening and odd jobs around the school will be undertaken to improve our school grounds.
Parents who attend 2 working bees per year, sign in and participate for the full 3 hours will receive a $250 credit towards the Maintenance Levy on their school fees.
We ask all parents to bring gloves, hat, sunscreen and a drink bottle. If you have a wheelbarrow, rakes or digging tools to remove weeds, please bring these along.
Please indicate your attendance via the notification on Operoo that will go out.
All are welcome to attend.
Applications for 2025 are due now.
Interviews for new families wishing to commence school at St Francis de Sales in 2025 will commence in May.
Please inform neighbours and friends who will have a child eligible to start school in 2025 to book a tour. We have tours nearly every morning at 9 am.
Help promote our school and share stories of the great learning and extra curricula opportunities we provide.
Word of mouth stories about our great school community is the BEST promotion.
Staff News
In the early hours of Sunday morning 28th April, Rozeta's beloved Mama Rita Vincent passed on peacefully. A beautiful Funeral Mass was held at St Kevin's Hampton Park on Thursday 2nd May. The St Francis de Sales school community pass on our deepest condolences to Rozeta and all her family and keep her in our prayers at this sad time.
Next week we look forward to the return of Kristy who joins our SFS Staff. We also farewell Andrea Soyer after just a term with us. Andrea has decided to take up an administration job in the city. We thank Andrea for the work she did in her role with us one day a week in LS3 on Monday. This role will be filled with an internal appointment.
Professional Learning Day
On Monday 29 April our staff participated in a Professional Learning Day Exploring the Principles of Catholic Social Teachings. The day was facilitated by Amerall Bloom and Brittany Ford from MACS. Catholic Social Teaching is the part of Catholic teaching that addresses matters of social, economic and ecological justice in the world.
The Papal Encyclicals are just some of the key Church documents which have contributed to the development and application of Catholic Social Teachings. Popes of the past and our current Pope Francis want us to respond and act with regards to key areas. e.g. Laudato Si’ On Care for our Common Home 2015, Pope Francis.
Together we explored the principles of Catholic Social Teachings and designed learning experiences that will be used with our students. Sarah's notes capture some of the key messages of this day.
Have a great weekend, Go Pies!!
