Health & PE Update

Athletics

The sun was shing for our annual House athletics for students from Level 4-6 on Monday 22 April.

Students competed in events including shotput, discus, long jump, triple jump, 100m sprints, hurdles, relays and optional events including 800m and 200m. There were some fantastic results and it was great to see students trying to achieve their personal best in the different events.

Individual results are still be tabulated and will be communicated to students over the coming weeks. These results are used to select out District Athletics team which will compete later in the year.

It was also exciting to hear the House chants reverberating across the athletics track building on the great atmosphere.

Overall, it was a tight tussle all day and the final relays proved decisive in crowning our overall House Champions.

1st: Perkins

2nd: Fraser

3rd: Freeman

4th: Bradman

Thank you to all the wonderful parent helpers who assisted throughout the day and to the House Captains and parents who assisted Mr Zach and I with the set up at the start of the day. These school events do not happen without assistance from parents, so if you are available to assist when asked, please consider getting involved.

Swimming Lessons

Level 3 & 4 students are participating in Swimming lessons currently over at Caulfield. Thanks again to the parent helpers who have assisted. If you are available over the next 2 weeks to assist your classroom teacher there are still some slots without parent helpers. Please check with your classroom teacher if they need any assistance. Lessons for other year levels will be later in the year.

Gymnastics

We found out over the holidays that we were successful in obtaining a Sporting Schools grant for Term 2. This is being used to run Gymnastics lessons for our Level 1 & 2 students later this term. More details to come.
