Bike Helmets

We have been noticing some students (and parents) not wearing a helmet when riding to and from school. With two busy roads surrounding our school, we would like to see that helmets are worn for the safety of our students and school community.

The department of transport states, ‘when you ride a bicycle or an electric powered wheeled recreational device or a personal mobility device like a rideable, you must wear an Australian Standard (AS) approved bicycle helmet. You must securely fit and fasten it. An approved bicycle helmet means a helmet that complies with AS 2063 or AS/NZS 2063.’

Triple P ‘Positive Parenting Program’ Tips:

CHORES FOR KIDS: TRIPLE P’S TIPS FOR ALL AGES

Chores are more than just helping around the home. They help kids develop life skills, like cooperation, empathy, time-management, responsibility and perseverance. Chores also give kids a feeling of independence and accomplishment, which boosts their confidence.

As a parent or carer, positive strategies can encourage kids to pitch in. Planning, involving kids in decisions, breaking things down into smaller tasks, giving plenty of praise and using incentives can be great motivators.

It can help to think about what children could do independently, or with a little guidance, keeping in mind it may take time for them to learn how to do the job. For toddlers and young children, chores can be simple. As they grow older, they can become more complex. The key is to give them opportunities to help as soon as they’re ready, to show them the steps, and be patient while they learn.

Even when kids don't do things exactly how we want them to, giving them the space and time to try shows them their contribution is valued. What really matters is encouraging their participation, not perfection.

Report Cards and Parent/Teacher Interviews

Our teachers are currently finalising end of semester results and have been moderating with their colleagues to ensure consistency across each year level. Report cards will be emailed out on Thursday of week 10, the 20th of June. Please ensure your email address is correct so you receive your child's report card. Please contact the office should you not receive this email.

We have scheduled parent/teacher interviews in Term 3 on Monday the 22nd of July from 3:00pm - 7:00pm. This will provide an opportunity for you to meet with your child's class teacher to discuss their Semester 1 report card and discuss next steps in their learning journey. Further information will be sent out early next term so you can make a booking.
