CROSS COUNTRY

On Friday the 26th of April we held our very first whole school Cross Country event. In 2023, we held a small event for our Year 3-6 students to select a school team. This year it was great to see how we were able to get a lot more students being active on the day.

In the morning, our Year 3-6’s braved the chilly conditions to complete their 2km or 3km course or chose to participate in our fun run which was a new addition to the program this year. Many students commented how much they liked the 2km and 3km courses going outside of the school grounds and around the Lucas Central Park. After recess, our Year 1/2 students completed their 1km course around the school grounds before cheering our Preps on in the 600m run. Students were awarded between 1 and 25 house points depending on their placings in the events.

Highlights from the day included the encouragement and sportsmanship displayed by all our students as well as the Grade 5/6 students assisting the preps with their run. Thank you to all our parent helpers who have volunteered to assist with events and excursions this term.

At assembly, we acknowledged the place getters and school team that is competing at the Sovereign Division Cross Country event at Ballarat High School on Friday 10th of May. We wish Barkot, Carlos, Eamon, Sathvik, Kirby, Charlotte, Charlie, Charlotte, Judd, Jax, Mustaeen, James, Sophie, Evelyn, Frankie and Lilly the best of luck with their respective races. Thompson House (Blue) were also congratulated as the winners of our very first House Cross Country.
